Talk to a licensed immigration attorney
Every case is different. Before you file, especially if there's a prior visa denial, overstay, criminal record, previous marriage, or big age or income question, we strongly recommend speaking with a licensed U.S. immigration attorney. Many offer low-cost first consultations.

Timelines you see in forums go out of date fast. Instead of quoting numbers, this page shows where each stage is measured officially and how to read the tools. Any figure below is quoted from an official page with the date we checked it.
Step 1: USCIS petition (I-129F or I-130)
Step 2: National Visa Center (CR-1/IR-1)
- NVC Timeframes is updated weekly. When we checked on Oct 18, 2026, it said: "As of 13-Oct-26, we are working on cases that were received from USCIS on 25-Sep-26" (case creation) and "As of 13-Oct-26, we are reviewing documents submitted to us on 4-Aug-26" (document review).
- NVC says these timeframes cover immediate relative and preference cases, not K/fiancé(e) visas.
- After NVC creates your case, you use the case number and invoice ID to log in to CEAC, pay fees and submit the DS-260, I-864 and civil documents. NVC
Step 3: Manila interview scheduling
- CR-1/IR-1: the State Department's IV Scheduling Status Tool shows the "documentarily complete" month NVC is scheduling at each post. On Oct 18, 2026 (tool last updated Oct 7, 2026), Manila's "Relative Visa" column read Feb-2026. Compare it with the date NVC marked your case documentarily complete. NVC says it emails appointment details about 2–3 months ahead.
- K-1: the IV tool says it can't be used for K-1/K-2 cases; the Embassy schedules once all required documents are provided. Follow the Embassy's instructions and the US Embassy Manila visa pages.
- The Global Visa Wait Times table covers nonimmigrant categories such as visitor and student visas. It doesn't cover K-1 or immigrant visa interviews, so don't rely on it for your case.
Step 4: After arrival
- K-1: the I-485 (and any I-765/I-131) appear in the USCIS processing times tool too. CR-1/IR-1: USCIS mails the green card after the Immigrant Fee is paid; USCIS says to use its help form if it hasn't arrived within 90 days of paying or entering (whichever applies). USCIS
FAQ
- Where do I check I-129F processing times?
On the USCIS processing times tool at egov.uscis.gov/processing-times, choosing I-129F and the office on your receipt notice. - Does the NVC timeframes page apply to K-1 cases?
No. NVC says its timeframes do not apply to K/fiancé(e) visas. - How do I estimate when Manila will schedule a spousal visa interview?
Compare your documentarily complete date with Manila's Relative Visa date in the State Department IV Scheduling Status Tool, which is updated monthly.
